The Commonwealth Games is the biggest inclusive sporting event in the world. Where you can watch para-athletes compete on the World stage during the same event schedule as the able-bodied athletes.
Kurt Fearnley OAM and official GC2108 Ambassador (pictured) is on our watch list as one of Australia’s most successful track athletes competing in long distance wheelchair racing. Winning numerous International marathons and bringing home a number of Paralympic medals over his extensive career.
The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games committee’s vision to deliver an inclusive Games stretches further than the sporting arena, working closely with the Destination Gold Coast and accessible tourism experts to ensure a large number of people can come and enjoy the games and the Gold Coast as a destination. You will find a host of information on their website from accessible beaches, to transport, accessible playgrounds etc.
As always accommodation is the hardest part when planning an accessible trip, we hope you had success finding something suitable and we would love to hear about your experience post trip so feel free to get in touch with us. Follow our trip on instagram or use #GCTGS2018 for a repost.

There is no denying we have been hit HARD by Games Fever, with Scott heading up the Gold Coast next week to compete in the Paratriathlon event on Saturday 7 April! Life has been very busy around here, managing increased training loads, guest speaking opportunities, and the normal work and family commitments. But it is worth it!
Safe travels to all making the journey up over the next few weeks and best wishes to all the athletes for their events. Let the Games Begin!
