Rakhi Retreat

Rakhi Retreat provides peaceful accommodation and bird watching on the boundary of a native paperbark wet season lagoon and Eucalyptus woodland. You will have exclusive use of the 5acre property and it’s just 20 minutes drive from the world renowned birding site Fogg Dam. The property and those adjacent are covered in native bush and back on to the 10 hectare Lakewood Reserve.

We have seen over 80 species at Rakhi in recent years and constructed a bird hide from paperbark sourced on the property. Rakhi provides an idyllic bird watching experience.

The main building has been beautifully finished with locally sourced ironwood and has both an effective passive cooling design and air conditioning. The eco-house has 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 5 people. It has a large open living space, gourmet kitchen and a spacious shower. The stand alone cabin, which is only available with the house, can sleep an additional 5-7 people. Rakhi Retreat is 5 minutes drive to the Humpty Doo Hotel and 7 minutes to the local shopping centre.

WHY ISN’T THE GOOD ACCESS BADGE TURNED ON?

Some listings are here because we think they’re pretty cool and you should know about them! And some, we just haven’t quite got enough info to make the ‘Good Access’ call yet.. so to answer the question, a business could be listed on our site if:

A. The business indicates they have some accessible facilities, but we haven’t quite gotten around to chatting through the details, stay tuned! If you’ve been here, leave a review and let us know about your experience!

B. We have spoken to their team.. the facilities aren’t quite what we’d call accessible BUT we’ve provided you with ‘good to know’ tips in case you’re keen to give it a go anyway!
