Initiated by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation with support from City of Melbourne and the Victorian State Government, every year for four years an outstanding architect will be commissioned to design a temporary pavilion for the Queen Victoria Gardens, in the centre of Melbourne’s Southbank Arts Precinct.

An event hub, a meeting place and an invitation to experiment, each MPavilion brings creative collaborators together to present a free, four-month program of talks, workshops, performances and installations from October to February.

MPavilion 2018, the fifth MPavilion in an ongoing series, is designed by Barcelona-based architect Carme Pinós of Estudio Carme Pinós.

MPavilion 2017 is designed by Netherlands–based architects OMA / Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten and has now been relocated to its permanent home at Monash University. MPavilion 2016 was designed by Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai, an award-winning architect and practice of distinction based in India, and now has a new permanent home at the Melbourne Zoo. MPavilion 2015 was designed by AL_A the studio of Stirling Prize–winning architect Amanda Levete, and now has a permanent home in Melbourne’s Docklands. MPavilion 2014 was designed by Australian firm Sean Godsell Architects, and now has a permanent home at Melbourne’s Hellenic Museum.

WHY ISN’T THE GOOD ACCESS BADGE TURNED ON?

Some listings are here because we think they’re pretty cool and you should know about them! And some, we just haven’t quite got enough info to make the ‘Good Access’ call yet.. so to answer the question, a business could be listed on our site if:

A. The business indicates they have some accessible facilities, but we haven’t quite gotten around to chatting through the details, stay tuned! If you’ve been here, leave a review and let us know about your experience!

B. We have spoken to their team.. the facilities aren’t quite what we’d call accessible BUT we’ve provided you with ‘good to know’ tips in case you’re keen to give it a go anyway!
